Thea Bouzounis

Thea is a Senior Associate in our family law team, and an Accredited Family Law Specialist. 

Thea joined Barbayannis Lawyers in 2019, and has formed part of our family law team since this time.

Thea has experience handling complex property and parenting matters, including matters involving third parties, trusts, taxation issues, recovery applications, superannuation, spousal maintenance and child support. Thea has instructed and appeared in various matters in both Division 1 and 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. 

Thea brings experience gained during her years as a volunteer and mentor at Monash Law clinics, where she mentored students and dedicated her time to helping clients, with a particular focus on family violence matters, children’s matters and cross-cultural issues. Thea also spent time studying Human Rights Law in Prato, Italy, and she undertook an Internship with a Member of Parliament whereby she completed a thesis on Family Violence in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD).

Thea was recognised as Rising Star in the peer reviewed Doyle’s Guide for Family Law in Victoria for 2026.

Thea recognises the human side of the law. She approaches her clients with compassion and with a focus on achieving practical and sensible solutions.
